FERRINO CELEBRATES THE CAMPING TENT AT SALONE DEL MOBILE IN MILAN

Ferrino will take part in Salone del Mobile 2026 with the exhibition “Typologie – The Camping Tent Exhibition”, a project exploring the tent as a design, architectural and innovation object.
Curated by Thélonious Goupil and Sina Sohrab, the exhibition will run from 20 to 27 April 2026 at the studio of photographer Alberto Strada, Via San Vincenzo 6, Milan, with an opening on Monday 20 April, from 18:30 to 00:00.
 
THE TYPOLOGIE PROJECT
Typologie is an independent publishing series that analyses everyday objects in order to understand their structure and meaning. The volume is dedicated to the tent, explored as a design system that integrates materials, technology and design.
 
THE EXHIBITION
“Typologie – The Camping Tent Exhibition” offers a contemporary reading of the tent—an object that brings together technical design and the culture of living. Through historical and contemporary scale models, as well as images, the exhibition highlights the evolution of the forms and functions of a structure that appears simple yet is highly complex.
 
THE COLLABORATION
The volume and the exhibition bring together a unique selection of tents—historical expedition models, camping tents and bivouac tents—providing a cross-cutting, comparative perspective on this typology, systematically collected for the first time.
 
FERRINO
The collaboration between Typologie and Ferrino was fundamental in enabling this research to take shape.
Founded in Turin in 1870, Ferrino is one of the most historic European manufacturers of tents and outdoor equipment, with more than 150 years of experience in developing solutions for extreme environments, expeditions and emergency contexts.
This one-and-a-half century of expertise in designing the tent—understood as a technical, cultural and symbolic object—forms the basis of the research that has contributed to the creation of the Typologie volume and exhibition.
The meeting between Typologie and Ferrino is rooted in this very heritage: a unique archive, built up over time and carefully preserved, that recounts the evolution of the tent through materials, forms and functions.
In this context, Ferrino contributes to the exhibition with models drawn from its own historical archive, bringing a perspective that combines technical innovation with the culture of exploration.
