Our Heritage

1870
It all started in a paint shop in Turin.
Cesare Ferrino had a revolutionary idea: waterproofing fabrics. It was an immediate success throughout Italy.
1890
From fabric to manufacturing, the first tents were supplied to explorers and mountaineers, but the company also counted the newly founded Fiat among its customers: it is said that Senator Giovanni Agnelli himself left the Ferrino laboratory with a "capote" under his arm.
1910
These are the years of legendary mountaineering. Technology and research lead Ferrino to become an essential part of these great undertakings. The Cervino tent is born: the first of its kind.
1937
The Neghelli tent became legendary: the missionary, geographer, and explorer Alberto Maria De Agostini used it on his expeditions to Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego.
1940
Ferrino technology sets new records. The alpine tent is born: thanks to its Triplex outer fabric, it resists all winds, even extreme ones.
1960
A new culture is born: living outdoors, "on the road." Ferrino is the natural reference point for an entire generation.
1973
Ferrino is always at the side of pioneers, with the Afghan isothermal tent, which weighs only 7.4 kg.

In the following years, Trekking was born, a dome tent designed based on the study of geodesic vaults.
1986
Reinhold Messner is the first man to have climbed all 8,000 peaks on the planet, completing historic feats such as climbing Gasherbrun and Lhotse.

Ferrino accompanied Messner in the preparation of his adventures, providing him with a cutting-edge tent and investing in research and development, to be the first brand to have climbed the 14 highest peaks on Earth.

Great explorers and Ferrino: a formula that has always taken you far.
1994
HighLab was born at the Quintino Sella refuge on Monte Rosa, at 3585 meters above sea level: a permanent high-altitude laboratory.

For testing new materials and prototypes. A crucial testing ground for testing every material under real-world conditions, especially the most demanding ones.
1997
Borge Ousland crosses Antarctica on skis: 2,854 km. The Ultima tent allows him to survive this white hell.
1998
Carla Perrotti managed to survive for 24 days in the Chinese Taklimakan Desert thanks to the Ultima tent, the result of a long-standing collaboration between the documentary maker and the company.
2002
Ferrino designs the MLH Evolution tent for Mike Horn, testing it in the Mercedes wind tunnel.

Mike uses it to cross Antarctica alone: 20,000 km in 20 months, between -15 and -70 degrees Celsius.
2004
50 years later, the legendary K2 expedition is relived. When Silvio Mondinelli exclaims, "We're at the summit!", Ferrino is with him and the entire expedition, as technical sponsor.
2006
Crystal Cave, Mexico: Ferrino, along with La Venta, is participating in the Naica project, a three-year exploration in an "impossible" environment due to its high temperatures and humidity. This is achieved with Tolomea, a suit that allows a person to survive for 80 minutes where humans would survive only a few minutes.
2007
Ferrino is alongside Gnaro Mondinelli, the second Italian after Messner to climb all 14 of the planet's 8,000 peaks without supplemental oxygen.

The year Gnaro summited Broad Peak, completing his feat, the High Lab Pro team was born, made up of the best mountain professionals, mountain guides and mountain rescue instructors.

A team of professionals working alongside the company to test and improve products alongside HighLab technicians.
2008
Ferrino acquires the historic Baldas brand, synonymous with quality snowshoes.

The company brings in-house production of 100% Made in Italy snowshoes.
2009
The La Venta geographical and speleological exploration association, a Ferrino partner since 2000, is exploring the Naica cave in Mexico, a place with an average temperature of 48°C and almost 100% humidity.

Ferrino supplies La Venta Tolomea, the highly technical suit, capable of withstanding the hellish conditions of the giant crystal cave.

Following this achievement, Ferrino entered the technical outdoor clothing market with the creation of the first HighLab men's and women's clothing collection.
2010
It's the 140th anniversary. A historic date for the company, which shares every achievement through multi-channel communication.

The logo is renewed: minimal, impressive, original.

And above all, consistent with the brand's values.
2012

A unique experience, which contributed to the birth and development of Ferrino's most prestigious projects and products.

Ferrino decides to create a clothing line designed for climbing and bouldering, aimed primarily at young people.

Thanks to the collaboration with sport climbing champion Marzio Nardi, the RockSlave brand was born, with its products of excellent quality and fresh, youthful, street design.
2014
Full Safe is born, the first backpack on the market that integrates the main safety systems in the event of an avalanche: AirSafe respirator, the Air Bag and the RECCO reflector.

Research and innovation in a single backpack designed for freeriding and winter mountaineering, born from the collaboration between Ferrino's technical staff, the Alpine Rescue and the Mountain Medicine Center of the Aosta Valley.
2015
