Ferrino presents “Transcardus”, the film dedicated to the first ski mountaineering crossing of the Balkan massif of Scardus
The premiere of the work is scheduled for Sunday, October 27th as part of the events of the Milano Montagna festival. On Friday, November 22nd the film will be screened in Turin and on December 3rd in Udine
So close and yet so far… the peaks of the Balkans are just a few hundred kilometres from the Alps, but they are the heart of a human and environmental reality that is very different from the Alpine one, a place dotted with small villages where, next to the minarets of Muslim mosques, stand the bell towers of Catholic churches and the domes of Orthodox churches, and where Europe acquires the colours and flavours of the East.
Enrico Mosetti , Alpine Guide, Ferrino ambassador and passionate ski mountaineer, fleeing from the more classic and now overcrowded destinations of the Alps, has long spent his winters among these peaks, where, in the coldest season, it is rare to encounter human traces and the only footprints left in the snow are those of bears and wolves, elusive inhabitants of these mountains.
After many years of dating, last winter, Enrico decided to make a long-held dream come true: to make the first ski crossing of the Sharr o Scardus massif, on the border between Kosovo and Macedonia. With him are the skier, photographer and filmmaker Elisa Bessega , the snowboarder Matteo Sarto and Lorenzo Barutta , also a lover of snowboarding as well as an expert filmmaker.
Ferrino wanted to be at their side, making available its best mountain equipment (including the ultralight backpacks of the Instinct line and the brand new ultralight high-altitude tent Extreme 2 , tested in the wind tunnel) and supporting the production of the film dedicated to the crossing.
During a week spent between climbs made challenging by the capricious weather of the Balkans, thrilling descents, bivouacs under the snow and stars and exciting encounters with the people who live in the valleys at the foot of the Scardus, the group managed to complete the undertaking and complete the filming of “Transcardus”, the documentary made under the direction of Elisa Bessega, which tells the story of this small but great adventure.
The work will be presented as a world premiere on Sunday 27 October at 7:30 pm at the Feltrinelli Foundation in via Pasubio, as part of the events of the Milano Montagna Festival 2024, of which Ferrino is a partner. On Friday 22 November, at 8:30 pm, the film will also be screened in Turin, in the Cineteatro Baretti hall, while on 3 December, Transcardus will stop at the Cinema Visionario in Udine, for a screening as part of the “Film ad Alta Quota” festival.
“We are proud to have given our contribution to the realization of this original crossing and of the beautiful film that testifies it - comments Anna Ferrino, CEO of Ferrino - It was for us a way to reaffirm the passion and commitment in promoting the practice and culture of the outdoors in its most beautiful form: that of discovery and exploration, which, even today, with a little courage, creativity and ability to look at things from a different point of view, it is possible to find even in places not too far from home and independently, that is, only with a backpack, tent and sack and skis, to explore remote and wonderful places even in winter”.
