Torino Outdoor Days: Ferrino's initiatives to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the National Mountain Museum

2024 is a year of great anniversaries for the world of mountains. Among the most important anniversaries is certainly that of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the National Mountain Museum of the Cai Turin, inaugurated on August 9, 1874.

Ferrino also wanted to participate in the celebrations for this extraordinary birthday, reaffirming its support for the promotion of outdoor culture and renewing a long-standing collaboration with the Turin museum institution, which over the years has taken shape in the organization of exhibitions and events and which is also clearly visible to visitors to the Museum, in whose rooms are exhibited Ferrino equipment that have rightfully entered the history of mountaineering, such as the Extreme tent, which was the companion of some of Reinhold Messner's most epic feats.

Hence the idea of contributing to the 150th anniversary celebrations with the proposal of the Torino Outdoor Days , three evenings organized by Ferrino in collaboration with the MuseoMontagna, which will feature Ferrino ambassador athletes and their latest exploits, presented by Marco Ribetti, deputy director of the Museum.

The appointments will be held starting at 9 pm in the hall of the Cineteatro Baretti in via Baretti 4 in Turin.

It begins on Friday 22 November with the screening of the film “ Transcardus, a BalkanSki Story ” dedicated to the ski mountaineering crossing of the Scardus mountain range, between Kosovo and Serbia, an experience with an exploratory flavour not many kilometres away from the most popular ski mountaineering destinations in the Alps. The Alpine Guide and freerider Enrico Mosetti, creator of the Transcardus project, will be on stage, along with his companions in the adventure: Lorenzo Barutta and Elisa Bessegna, who, in addition to sharing the climbs and descents between the Balkan peaks with Enrico, were responsible for the editing and direction of the film respectively.

On Monday 25 November we will travel to the Great North with the evening organized in collaboration with Vibram, which will bring the mountaineer Matteo Della Bordella and the film “ Odyssea Borealis ” to the stage of the Baretti cinema and theatre. The film, produced by Vibram with Ferrino, is dedicated to the recent expedition in Greenland, where Matteo and his companions Silvan Schupbach, Alex Gammeter and Symon Welfringer, opened a new route on a 1200-meter wall never climbed before, reached completely independently, after a 300-kilometer crossing by kayak in the open sea.

On Thursday 5 December we will move to the extreme south of the world with ultracyclist Omar Di Felice who will present some new features dedicated to his greatest dream: crossing Antarctica by bike . Between solitude, unexpected events, returns and intimate reflections, he will tell his extraordinary adventure in one of the most inhospitable places on the planet. Details on the evening and the contents will follow in the coming days.

“The National Mountain Museum is a symbol of the history and culture of the outdoors – comments Anna Ferrino , CEO of Ferrino – We are proud of the fact that this institution is based here in Turin, the same city where our company has its roots. Ferrino's collaboration with the Mountain Museum has a long history that today we are happy to renew with the proposal of these three evenings whose protagonists are part of our team of athletes and best represent the contemporary philosophy of the outdoors, in which the ability to continue and explore is combined with the respect of those wonderful and fragile places that are the scene of our adventures, small or large as they may be”.

All evenings are free, upon online registration on Eventbrite.
