MIKE HORN'S NEW ADVENTURE HAS BEGUN: FOUR YEARS ON A SAILING BOAT TO THE MOST REMOTE ENVIRONMENTS ON THE PLANET TO DISCOVER AND TELL THE SIGNS OF CLIMATE CHANGE

It's called "What's Left" the new great project by Mike Horn, a true legend of exploration and historic Ambassador of Ferrino, who with his sailing boat Pangaea will touch all the continents to discover what remains to be explored and what remains of the wild places he has visited in his long career.

In a career spanning more than thirty years, South African Mike Horn has become one of the last great explorers, accomplishing feats previously thought impossible, such as circumnavigating the world around the Equator, completed in October 2000 without the use of any motorized means, or circumnavigating the world around the Arctic Circle, begun in 2002 and also completed without motors, without sled dogs and in total autonomy, overcoming two very harsh Arctic winters.

In 2006, Mike, together with his partner Borge Ousland, was also the first man to reach the North Pole on foot in the coldest season, after 60 days and 5 hours of walking, and in 2016 he started the project of circumnavigating the globe, touching both the North and South Poles.
Between one great crossing and another he also found time to dedicate himself to mountaineering at the highest levels, concatenating the 8000-meter peaks of Gasherbrum I and II in 2007. In 2010 he climbed Broad Peak and in 2010 Makalu, always strictly without the use of oxygen tanks.
After a life spent in the name of adventure, at the age of 57, Mike Horn is still not satiated with discoveries and new challenges and, in recent weeks, he took to the sea from the Principality of Monaco with his 35-meter boat Pangaea to start the new project "What's Left", or "What Remains", a very long 4-year journey, which will take him across the oceans and touch all the continents to start from there in search of still unexplored environments, finding traces of his previous travels and testifying with stories and images the effects of climate change.

“This journey is a summary of my past experiences while also offering an opportunity for the public to observe the current state of our planet. Over the course of four years, I will visit iconic and untouched places, discovering what has changed and accomplishing many feats that are still in my dream drawer. Through this adventure, my goal is to inspire people to take action and pursue their passions. Each destination in the carefully curated itinerary of “ What’s Left ” will showcase the intertwined themes of adventure and the environment.”
MIKE HORN

It is inevitable to ask Mike what remains to be explored in the contemporary world: “ In a world dominated by satellites and the Internet, there are still unexplored areas that invite adventure. Beyond the screens of our computers and smartphones, hidden caves, unknown oceans and remote landscapes still fascinate explorers. True exploration goes beyond the dimension of the Internet and the virtual world, feeding the human spirit with curiosity, discovery and the uncertainty of new adventures” .
The choice to make the journey aboard the Pangea boat is not only due to Mike's love for sailing, but is a confirmation of the attention to the environment that has always led him to renounce the use of motor vehicles as much as possible for his ventures: " Sailing minimizes my carbon footprint and impact on the environment and aligns my passion for the sea with the goal of preserving our planet - explains the explorer - By embracing sailing as my main means of transport to move from one destination to another, I want to give my contribution to sustainability and show my commitment to our fragile ecosystems. Furthermore, sailing allows me to immerse myself in nature and deepen my connection with the world around me, offering time for reflection and preparation. In the long time I have taken to make this journey I am sure that I will have the opportunity to discover the changes that reflect the dynamic nature of our planet and show the effects of human activities " .
The first stop on the journey will be Greenland, where in the coming months, after a difficult navigation among the icebergs of the Arctic seas, Mike will attempt the challenging ascent of Gunnbjørn Fjeld, the highest peak on the island, from where you can enjoy a 360° panorama of one of the most majestic wilderness areas on Earth.

Even in this new undertaking Ferrino will be alongside Mike Horn, as it has been for all the other great expeditions of the South African explorer.
“Mike is the symbol of the inexhaustible passion for discovery that animates man - comments Anna Ferrino, CEO of Ferrino - a spirit that finds fulfillment in unique and incredible experiences like those he has lived and continues to face, but also in the small adventures that all outdoor lovers dream of and realize, perhaps a stone's throw from home. We are proud to contribute with our work and our products to the realization of these magnificent dreams. Small or large as they may be” .
