Matteo Della Bordella joins the Ferrino team
The climber from Varese, absolute protagonist of technical mountaineering on the largest and wildest walls on Earth, officially becomes one of our ambassadors. His extreme feats will be a severe and challenging test to test and improve the characteristics of our backpacks and tents
A new member joins the family of Ferrino Outdoor ambassadors, the climber Matteo Della Bordella, born in 1984, one of the most illustrious names in contemporary Italian mountaineering, known throughout the world for his extreme climbs on the most vertical and wild walls, completed with an extremely limited use of technical means, and often with a "by fair means" style.
Matteo, in fact, prefers to approach the mountains he intends to climb completely independently, moving on skis or kayaks rather than using motorized vehicles; a choice inspired by respect for uncontaminated and fragile natural environments and by the desire to reopen the boundaries of the unknown and adventure, limiting the conveniences and safety offered by technology.
His history as a climber began in the Alps, where, from a very young age, he stood out by repeating several of the most difficult routes on large rock faces, from the Dolomites to Mont Blanc and where he opened impressive new itineraries, particularly in the Wendenstoke area, in Switzerland, considered one of the "temples" of extreme alpine climbing on limestone.
His love for adventure, however, soon took him outside Europe, always in search of walls on which to challenge himself with highly difficult climbing, but located in remote and wild environments.
Baffin Island, Greenland, the granite towers of the Karakorum and the 6000-meter peaks of the Indian Himalayas have been the scene of some of the climbs that have made him famous. His chosen land, however, is Patagonia, the southernmost tip of the American continent, where, among the largest glaciers on Earth, incredible granite monoliths rise, perpetually lashed by the storm. Right there, a few months ago, Matteo achieved what is perhaps his most beautiful feat to date: the first alpine-style ascent of the gigantic east face of Cerro Torre, accomplished with Matteo De Zaiacomo and David Bacci, climbers of the prestigious Ragni della Grignetta group, which also includes Della Bordella.
"I am very happy and honored by this collaboration - comments Matteo - Ferrino is an Italian company that has made the history of mountaineering equipment and that, even today, is at the forefront and continues to aim with courage and foresight on quality, innovation and research. There is certainly a harmony between this spirit and my way of experiencing mountaineering and I really hope to be able to contribute with my direct experiences to the development of increasingly high-performance products".
Anna Ferrino, CEO of Ferrino Outdoor, also says she is particularly satisfied with this new addition to the company's ambassador team: "Matteo's mountaineering fascinates us because it is linked to the great traditions of the past, but looks to the future, focusing on exploration and ambitious and never predictable goals. It is a mountaineering in which, thanks to a wise and limited use of technology, there is still room for dreams and adventure and which, above all, is sensitive to aspects that today are absolutely primary and essential such as respect and environmental protection".
