HONORABLE MENTION FOR THE FERRINO DESERT KAT BACKPACK
An important recognition for the Ferrino brand: the Desert Kat trail running backpack was awarded the “ Honorable Mention ” in the context of the awards ceremony of the “Compasso d'Oro International 2017 ” competition, promoted by ADI – Italian Association for Industrial Design .
The 2017 edition of the international award focused on the theme “ Sport – Performance and Innovation ” and a commission of experts, designers, critics and specialized journalists judged the Ferrino backpack worthy of the “Honorable Mention” for this category of competing products, including it in the catalogue of the event that has rewarded the excellence of design products since 1954.
« The news of this prestigious mention reached us in December of last year – explains Anna Ferrino , CEO of the company – and it honoured us, filling us with energy to close 2017 on a high and start 2018 with the right spirit.

The award-winning Desert Kat backpack is a cutting-edge product featuring some innovative concepts that make it perfect for use during self-supported races and long-distance trail running.
Developed internally by the Ferrino design team, the backpack has been perfected and brought to excellence thanks to the collaboration, field tests and feedback of Katia Figini and Dino Bonelli , two expert Italian trail runners.
What are the unique features of this backpack?
Low weight and wear resistance are guaranteed at the highest levels thanks to the use of Cubictech Dyneema® fiber, a material produced in the USA and used in the engineering field.
The shoulder straps are adjustable in length with a practical system and ensure an optimal fit for all needs for both men and women. The “FC System” (Fast Compression System) is the only one that allows, thanks to a practical Dyneema® cord on the waist band, to compress the backpack even when it is worn with extreme agility, saving time and energy, giving the product compactness in any load situation.
Furthermore, the provision of a double internal compartment, ideal for separating the load in the best way, is very useful especially on long-distance routes when you have to run independently. In this case, an internal zip allows, when necessary, to make the Desert Kat also a single body.
