Nine girls at the start, nine at the finish. Impossible to do better.
It happened in Omegna, during the Ultra Trail del Lago d'Orta , the race that marked the final moment – at least for 2023 – of the project developed by Ferrino in collaboration with Trailored 4 You which led a group of “normal” women, simple running enthusiasts, to successfully compete in a long-distance race on trails.
Throughout the year, the new athletes participated in the preparation and selection camps organized by Lisa Borzani , the soul of Trailored 4 You. The trail running champion, two-time winner of the Tor des Géants, with her experience and rigorous training schedules allowed the girls to show up at the start with the concrete awareness that they could do it. And so it was. Six of them finished the 55-kilometer race, the others were satisfied, so to speak, with running the shorter race that still measured 34 kilometers.
Beyond the purely sporting aspect, the “almost by chance athletes” have experienced a particular year, which has allowed them to grow and, above all, to team up with other women in a constructive way.
“It was a wonderful experience,” Katia Pricco Sissoldo sums up her journey with the Ferrino Women Team. “Competing with my teammates allowed me to overcome my limits and motivated me more and more to do my best. I met strong women, who every day have a thousand commitments between work and family and still try to find time for training. Unity is strength and leads you to dream big, and that's how it was for us”!

Silvye Grange is on the same wavelength: “I really enjoyed being part of a team, we shared training sessions that allowed us to get to know each other and then we constantly compared notes and kept in touch. And how wonderful it was to run dressed the same!!! It was right there that we appeared to everyone else as a team”.

Francesca Ferrando's assessment is also very similar, stating: "This experience with Ferrino Women Team has been positive in every way. Being able to run in a team of women has been great, it creates cohesion, understanding, and a lot of mutual encouragement, because the common desire is to all reach the same finish line".

Being part of a group was not only a pleasure, but for everyone it was also a stimulus to improve and also an additional motivational push and to find time to train.
“A beautiful experience of sharing, we have remained in touch with some of them and it is not excluded that we will do something together again”, confirms Silvia Bonalumi . “As always, the biggest problem is finding the time to prepare adequately, but the fact of belonging to a team has given me motivation and I also felt a bit of a responsibility to do well”.

“The hardest part for me is not the training, or the race, but the organization needed to fit them into my daily routine and reconcile them with work. But with this extra stimulus I found some really interesting organizational solutions, that I would never have imagined!”, relaunches Paola Bottanelli , who adds: “Running for the Ferrino Women Team made me feel valued as a woman and an athlete, and this greatly influenced my motivation and perseverance in facing the race and training”.

THANK YOU ALL FOR RUNNING WITH US!
