BIO AND CAREER
BIO AND CAREER
A former Paralympic athlete on the Italian national track and field team, he is now a mountaineer and explorer. In 2015, at the age of 29, he contracted meningitis with meningococcal sepsis. After a month in a coma, he lost both legs and seven fingers. Thanks to his willpower and passion for sport, he returned to his former life within a year, taking up Paralympic athletics and starting to run with a pair of carbon fiber prosthetics, purchased through a fundraiser. The first Italian athlete with a double lower limb amputation to run under 12 seconds in the 100 meters, he earned three Italian records, two bronze medals, a silver medal at the European Championships, and a silver medal at the 2017 World Championships. That same year, he returned to rock climbing and mountaineering, disciplines he had practiced before his illness. In 2018, he began his training, climbing mountains above 5,000 meters. He is the first athlete with multiple amputees to reach Mount Everest's 8,849-meter altitude. He holds numerous records, including the fastest mile run at altitude, a Guinness World Record. He is the creator of the "from0to0" project, a unique sporting event never before undertaken by a Paralympic athlete: cycling, mountain climbing, and running; starting and returning to sea level after climbing a mountain, non-stop. A story of great courage and extraordinary determination, rewarded by the achievement of sporting goals that seemed impossible. An athlete who symbolizes life and an entire national sports movement.

His dream? To climb all the highest peaks on seven continents, a goal he's been training for for years.
