Mike Horn

He is the last true explorer, in the classic sense of the term. Mike Horn has faced polar bears and crocodiles; he has descended the Amazon River; he has circumnavigated the globe along the equator; a few years later he did it again, along the Arctic Circle. His philosophy of life is simple: the impossible exists until we find a way to make it possible. And that is what he does with his adventures, real challenges in which he must put himself totally on the line every time, pushing himself to the limit but always finding the energy to succeed. He has had incredible experiences in all environments, from the coldest to the hottest, from the sea to dry land. In recent years he has chosen to go in search of the rarefied air on the highest mountains on the planet, before taking his icebreaker sailboat “Pangea” and heading straight north.

1997 – In six months and independently he crosses South America from the Pacific Ocean to the source of the Amazon River, which he then descends by hydrospeed and canoe to the Atlantic Ocean
1999 – He begins his round-the-world tour following the equator. He will complete the project in 18 months.
2002-2004 – In these two years he dedicates himself to the solo round the world trip without motorized transport following the Arctic Circle
2006 – Together with Borge Ousland he reaches the North Pole on foot during the Arctic night. The two take 60 days and 5 hours
2007 – Concatenate Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II without using oxygen tanks
2010 – Climbs Broad Peak without using bottled oxygen
2014 – Climbs Makalu in Alpine Style and Without Oxygen
2016 – Launches the “Pole2Pole” project which involves circumnavigating the globe via the South Pole and the North Pole.
