Børge Ousland

Børge Ousland is a polar explorer famous for being the first to cross the Antarctic continent alone. In just 64 days he traveled about 2845 kilometers using skis and sails as means of transport. First officer of the Norwegian Navy special forces, Ousland set out on his first adventure in 1990 when, together with Erling Kagge, he covered the 800 kilometers that separate Ellesmere Island (Canada) from the North Pole in 58 days. They did it without external support and were the first to succeed in this feat. Then in 1994 he had his first experience independently and alone: ​​from Cape Arktichevsky (Russia) to the North Pole. It was the first time the Pole was reached alone. Ousland is today considered the leading polar explorer of our time with around twenty expeditions under his belt, all conducted in the Arctic or Antarctic environment. From the North Pole to the South Pole and then to Patagonia where he has repeatedly faced the vast glaciers of the area, without forgetting the eight-thousand-meter mountains that have seen him as protagonist on Cho Oyu and Everest. A complete explorer, at ease where the cold becomes extreme.

2006 – Together with Mike Horn he reaches the North Pole on foot during the Arctic night. The two take 60 days and 5 hours
2010 – Between June and October, together with Thorleif Thorleifsson, he circumnavigates the North Pole on the trimaran "Northern Passage". It is the first time that the circumnavigation has been successful in a single season.
